Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Aaj Ki Rasoi (“we”, “us”) collects when you use our website and our mobile app, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it simple: we collect what the service needs to work, we do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising.
Who this policy covers
It covers the Aaj Ki Rasoi website (including the public recipe library) and the Aaj Ki Rasoi mobile app for iOS and Android. Browsing the website does not require an account; the mobile app does.
Information we collect
- Account details — you sign in with a phone number (verified by a one-time password), Google, or Apple. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from them. If you use WhatsApp-based features, we also store the number you link.
- Preferences and plans — the taste profile, dietary preferences, household details, and meal plans you create in the app. This includes any food allergies and dietary health conditions you choose to enter — for example diabetes-friendly or heart-healthy eating — which we use only to tailor your meal suggestions. This is the core of the service and is stored so your plans work across devices.
- Content you submit — anything you choose to share with us, such as links or recipe details you add.
- Usage and device data — basic technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, crash reports, and how features are used, so we can keep the service reliable. We also store a device push-notification token, which is what lets us send you meal reminders.
We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, or your photos, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
How we use it
- To provide the service: generate meal plans, build grocery lists, show recipes, and deliver plans over WhatsApp where you ask us to.
- To keep your account secure and prevent abuse.
- To fix problems and improve features, using aggregated or de-identified data wherever possible.
- To respond when you contact us for support.
- To comply with law.
WhatsApp delivery
If you choose to receive plans over WhatsApp, the messages are delivered through WhatsApp, and WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy (operated by Meta) apply to those messages. We only use your number to send what you asked for.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We share it only with service providers who help us run the product — your account, preferences, and plans are stored with Google Firebase (Firestore), and messages you ask for are delivered through WhatsApp — under agreements that limit their use of it to providing that service; with authorities where the law requires it; or as part of a business transfer, in which case this policy continues to apply.
Retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except for records we are legally required to keep or minimal data needed to resolve disputes.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account at any time from the app (Settings → Delete account) or by emailing support@aajkirasoi.com from your registered address. Deletion removes your account details, preferences, and meal plans as described above.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law — including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 — you may access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, withdraw consent, and request deletion. Write to support@aajkirasoi.com and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are unsatisfied with our response, you may escalate through the grievance process below or to your local data-protection authority.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access to production systems is restricted, and we use reputable cloud infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your personal information we will notify you as the law requires.
Children
The service is meant for adults managing a household kitchen. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 without a parent or guardian’s consent. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Third-party links
Recipe pages may link to the original source of a recipe on other websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
